Three Days Grace in Kearney, NE through Eventful?

December 8th, 2007 Posted in Music

On the entertainment site Eventful, users are able to setup demands for their favorite artists so those artists can see where their biggest masses of fans are located. This can help bands plan tours and better reach to their fans. When I first found Eventful about a year ago (when I was still living in Kearney), I started a demand for Three Days Grace to come to Kearney (along with Mudvayne) after the Staind concert from the at-the-time newly created Thunder 103.1 radio station and the newly constructed Heartland Event Center in Grand Island, NE. Since that time, I have seen this demand go from 1 to 11 people; not very impressive. It showed me there were not as many Three Days Grace fans in Central Nebraska as I thought there might be with the success of the Staind concert in the area. I was a bit bummed, but I have now moved to where I can see bands like this on a more consistent basis (Colorado Springs). So no sweat off my back anymore even though I would like to see Central Nebraska get some big name entertainers in the area for the people there who are really passionate about their entertainment. Just look at how big Comstock Rock was when it first started; people traveled from neighboring states to see these acts. I think big names bands would get the same for weekend concerts in the summer in Kearney or Grand Island. I especially think the UNK, Hastings College, and community college crowd would show up for Three Days Grace.

So I had given up the hopes of seeing another good rock band in the area for the near future, and then the other day I received a response from Three Days Grace about this demand. Turns out it was only an advertisement for Open House Party; if you live in Kearney and listen to Hits 1 through 6, you know Open House Party. It was a little of a slap in the face saying listen to us on the radio since we will probably never show up. Good try though (thumbs up). Maybe we can still keep hope for the future, but not holding my breath :(

Have a good weekend, and if it is snowing in your area, stay warm. Maybe snuggle up with the one you love (wish mine was here with me) or a good book. Peace.
